Kit Pop - Seams

Never one to fall into the security of complacent admiration, it was over a decade ago that Kit Pop realized just listening to music wasn't going to cut it, making the transition from avid bystander to hands-on technician with the acquisition of his first drum machine and synth at the age of 16. As those around him embroiled themselves in the works of cookie-cut pop artists and predictable countdowns, Kit Pop became a self taught student of beat composition, ensuring that whatever he heard came from his own hand and drawing inspiration only from a select few. After a brief affair with the dwindling art of competitive turntablism, Kit Pop returned to the studio to further explore the unbounded realms of production, armed only with an impartial appreciation of any sounds he could get his hands on. Where his peers would delegate themselves to a single genre to master, Kit Pop's inability to focus on one thing at a time would pay dividends further on down the track as he gained clout not only as a unique producer, but also as a fascinatingly unpredictable DJ. His ability to seamlessly blend an eclectic range of genres and sounds would quickly see him hyping crowds, playing large festivals such as Big Day Out, Laneway, Good Vibrations, Southbound festival, Parklife, Origin and more. Also providing complex foundations for an impressive resume of acts including Kendrick Lamar, Jamie XX, Ryan Hemsworth, Onra, Tokimonsta, Araabmuzik, Gold Panda, Riff Raff, Kaystranada, Lunice, The Cool Kids, Dave Nada, Tittsworth, Spank Rock, Harmonic 313, People under the stairs, Pharoahe Monch, Tricky, Theophilus London, Big Boi, Flying lotus, Gaslamp Killer and many others if the list went on. Dissatisfied with an evident lack of independent artist support and promotion in his home town, Kit Pop founded the Paper Chain record label in 2007 in order to shed some light on Perth's blossoming electronic music scene, becoming an ambassador for the cultivation of local talent through various self-funded gigs and collaborative events. In 2012 Paper Chain would come to an end and open up more time for studio exploration again. After Having mixtape praise from the likes of VICE and a nomination in URB's Next 100 artists from early stages he was yet to release his own form of sound. Dec. 2011 saw the offering which was an EP in the for of 'Smoke Cloud' This gained High rotation through Europe and became a popular iPod setlist within the beat making scene. From that Kit pop has Produced for Hip Hop artists and rappers and has also gone onto remixing up and coming young australian producers such as Wave Racer and Cosmo's Midnight in recent times. 2013 marks a turning point in his production career as his workflow continues to build. Kit Pop continues to work within the music industry helping out ex label mate Ta-ku on his brand Sunday Records as well as collaborative work within their mixtape series' (#EATS & #TREATS) His live collaboration with QSU Valedictorian Dj - Zeke continues to explore sound and intrigue crowds as more and more people become exposed to what the 2 talents can bring to the table. With a resume of work orientated as that, I guess one can only build from here.
